Back in 2016, together with Argentinian journalist Alejandro Rebossio, I took my camera to Villa Inflamable — where 1,800 families live, or rather survive, surrounded by oil companies, pollution, and the constant risk of cancer.
While filming outside one of the plants, the police stopped us, demanded our IDs, and asked for the camera’s SD card. We handed over an empty one, keeping the real footage safe.
We produced this short documentary for DW TV (Germany), as an attempt to give their reality visibility — to let their voices cut through the noise, and the silence.
